Furthermore, we'll also have the option to create our own wishlist, that will be available for other users to see. The search system can be somewhat complex, so we advise you to spend some time studying it, so that you'll be able to find all those files that you're looking for.

One of the best programs to share music with people from all over the world. One of its strong points lies on the fact that by means of this network it's possible to find rare songs, something that makes this tool essential for many music lovers. Since it's a rather old application, it lacks an eye-catching interface and it isn't very intuitive to use. After more than six months, there is a new test version out of the filesharing program SoulSeek Hooray for weird versioning by the way ‘NS 12d’ the NS (new server) client offers numerous optimizations and bug fixes, and a fair number of new features over the original client.

The program, that's still used despite other alternatives like Spotify that don't require us to download songs, has various chat rooms and channels specialized in different music styles, from where we'll be able to discuss about albums or meet people that have the same music tastes as us. Thousands of users connect to the network each day, making their music available for the rest of users. A desktop with a wired network cable is a more appropriate setup for doing this sort of thing.SoulSeek is one of the best-known programs to share music. I can’t offer any advice on advanced networking solutions, but I eventually got a desktop computer.

I have my shares on a NAS too and had similar problems with the link breaking and needing to re-index my shares now and then (but I wasn’t disconnecting my laptop to take to work daily, so it wasn’t so much of a constant issue for me).

If some other user isn’t satisfied with that, offer them a full refund! Those newer local files can be shared in due course as you move them over to the NAS after re-naming/organising them, or whatever it is you’re doing. You’re sharing the majority of your files on the NAS anyway, bravo. There is no necessity to share that if it’s causing you technical problems. If the client crashes when you move/edit shared files on your local completed folder, the easiest solution is just unshare that folder. I also know nothing about the various command-line options that may exist but I would be willing to brush up on it if it's a lesser headache in the end. Right now my only thought is to run Soulseek or Nicotine+ on the NAS directly - don't want to deal with the drag of a VM if possible, so the best option I've encountered is to run a containerized version of it with Docker - something about which I know nothing, but I can get someone smarter than me to set that up for me, if it's really the only viable way. Warning that I'm significantly less savvy than many NAS users.

So: just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and if they've got an elegant and stable solution? There doesn't seem to be a ton of demand for such a thing I realize the community is small. Created attachment 227017 v20 Changed the name to py-nicotine-plus (as many other similar software in ports, not sure if its right for nicotine) and removed the pkg-plist file (as it uses autoplist). At least in Soulseek NS versions I get the. The files are blue and haves no queue place.

but I'd prefer to a) be able to upload more or less continuously and b) be able to DL when I'm away from home without being a dreaded non-sharer. First bug: When trying to download locked files (by the Windows OS or by a third party app) in SoulseekQt (-Qt5.1, or ), let say, for the sake of the testing, the 'NTUSER.dat' file, shared by some users, I get no message at all. It tended not to do that when the files were on the same computer.įor now I've been trying to remember not to run Soulseek when I'm not at home. (I also share my completed folder which is on the local drive, but that's a paltry gesture, nothing stays in there long.) Also the client (Qt) wants to crash every time I move stuff around and need to re-index these large share folders.

Latest Mac build: SoulseekQt-.dmg (requires OSX 10.13 or higher) Latest Linux 64-bit AppImage: SoulseekQt-64bit-appimge.tgz. Latest Windows 64-bit build: SoulseekQt-64bit.exe. Latest Windows 32-bit build: SoulseekQt-32bit.exe. Recently I've switched over my media library to a NAS (Qnap) and now do my Slsk shares via a mapped network drive, but the setup is awkward - I'm still running it on a computer that I take to work every day, so that mapped connection breaks often. The only known solution is to uninstall AVG completely. by middle-of-the-road I mean I don't have an elite, impeccably organized and well-tagged collection but I do share freely and try not to be a dick. Hi all, been a middle-of-the-road Soulseek user since early days (anyone else an Audiogalaxy refugee?) and still prefer it to private trackers in many ways.
